The Amaldi Medals
At this time that is so delicate and yet so exciting for Europe (2004), The SIGRAV Board deems it appropriate to start offering a Scientific Prize named after a great Italian scientist who was also a great European citizen and played a key role in Fermi’s research group in Rome and, later, in the creation of INFN, CERN and ESA.
Il Consiglio Direttivo della SIGRAV, in questo momento delicato ed entusiasmante per l’unità politica dell’Europa (2004), ritiene opportuno istituire un Premio Scientifico intitolato ad un grande scienziato Italiano e grande cittadino europeo che ebbe un ruolo centrale nel gruppo di ricerca di Enrico Fermi a Roma e, in seguito, nella creazione dell’INFN, del CERN e dell’ESA.
THE AMALDI MEDAL
European Prize for Gravitational Physics “Edoardo Amaldi”
The Prize, consisting in a gold medal is reserved to scientists who carry out their activity in Europe and have given important contributions to the Physics of Gravitation. The Prize will be awarded every two years, following the indications of the SIGRAV Board, during the SIGRAV National Conferences.
The Italian Society of General Relativity and Gravitation values the scientific and financial support of Institutions that will be willing to contribute to this initiative.

LA MEDAGLIA AMALDI
Premio Europeo di Fisica della Gravitazione “Edoardo Amaldi”
Il Premio, consistente in una medaglia d’oro, è riservato a studiosi che svolgono la loro attività in Europa e hanno dato importanti contributi alla Fisica della Gravitazione. Il Premio sarà assegnato con cadenza biennale, seguendo le indicazioni del Consiglio Direttivo della SIGRAV, e sarà consegnato in occasione dei Congressi Nazionali della SIGRAV.
La SIGRAV conta sull’appoggio e sul supporto di Istituzioni che giudichino favorevolmente questa iniziativa e che vogliano condividerla.
